LIQUID CRYSTAL THERMOGRAPHIC TOOL
thermVIEW is the first commercially available, turn-key thermochromic liquid crystal based image processing system for quantitative surface temperature measurements. Everything that is needed to make measurements is included in the system. At the heart of the system is Thermography Image 1.0, a computer based software environment that provides thermal engineers with direct temperature measurement capabilities using any calibrated TLC formulation. With its wide degree of customization and ultra-high satial resolution (less than 1 micron can be achieved) capabilities, the Thermography system can easily be used in both micro- and macro-scopic temperature measurement applications. For example, electronics designers can use Thermography to measure component temperatures on microelectronic dies, an application that current infrared (IR) techniques costing an order of magnitude more cannot address. Macroscopic applications have included temperature measurement of printed circuit boards and their components.
SPECIFICATION
- Transient and steady state temperature measurement
- One system for part (Transistor) to board (PCB) level measurement
- Spatial resolution to 1 Micron
- A completely optical system based on visible light, independent of surface emissivity
- Fast response liquid crystal for temperature measurement and data processing
- Integrated calibration rig for in-situ temperature calibration of the liquid crystals
- Versatile 3D traversing camera support to accommodate flexibility in measurement
- Full fiber optic multi output ring light for high intensity and uniform illumination of the test specimen
- Cool-light-- IR free fiber optic lighting to eliminate any error in measurement due to IR absorption
