300 V Pulse Module for 6040

Fast High Voltage Pulses with Delay and Width Control

The Model 202H is a high-voltage (300V) plug-in module for BNC Model 6040 Mainframe. It offers nanosecond risetimes and very low jitter. The sharp edges of the 202H are ideal for testing components, gating flashlamps, triggering capacitor banks, or other experiments requiring high voltage pulses. The voltage is terminated into 50 Ohms. The pulse amplitude and width are adjustable via the front panel or remote programming.

The Model 202H may be triggered with an internal rate generator, external trigger or external modulation. There is an ECL output, a Pulse Out from BNC Model 6040 Mainframe, and a High Voltage Pulse Out from the 202H module (BNC connector).

Pulse Out

  • Amplitude

    20 V to 300 V into 50 ohms. Fixed 0 V baseline. Polarity internally switch selectable.

  • Resolution

    2 V (to max. amplitude).

  • Linearity

    +/- 1%.

  • Transition Times (10% to 90%)

Leading edge: 3nS typical (5 ns max); Trailing edge 1O ns typical (longer with lower amplitude)

  • Max. Power

    18 W average, 1.8 kW peak (at 300 V).

  • Max. Current

    6 A peak.

  • Droop

    0.005% us max.

  • Aberrations

    +/- 5% of amplitude (2% typical).

  • Settling Time

    5 ns.

    Timing

  • Trigger

Internal 0.01 Hz to 500 kHz; external 0 to 500 kHz. Rates to 1 MHz at lower amplitudes.

  • Pulse Width

12 ns to 5mS (see Droop). Calibrated at 300 V; at lower amplitudes true widths increase slightly in fixed value up to 10 ns max.

  • Duty Factor

    1% max. at 300 V. Duty factors increase up to 25% at 20 V.

  • Delay

0 ns to 5mS (plus fixed delay).

  • Minimum Interpulse Separation

200 ns (trailing to leading edges).

  • Module Delay

55 ns typical (fixed) mainframe's Pulse Out to module's Pulse Out. Jitter 25 ps rms.

    Common Module Specifications

  • Store

A ROM determines the instrument's allowable operating conditions and units of display applicable for the installed module.

A nonvolatile memory (RAM) in each module stores up to ten complete settings of operating conditions (trigger level, slope, etc.) and output pulse parameters.

  • Recall

The RAM-stored settings can be manually or bus transferred to the mainframe to produce the pre determined outputs.

  • Weight

2 Ibs net (0.9 kg); 5 Ibs shipping (2.3 kg).

  • Ambient

    Same as Model 6040 mainframe.
